Comlag Alumni Worldwide Inc. is an Alumni gathering of all Class Sets of the Command Secondary School, Ipaja, Lagos, Nigeria starting from the pioneering Class of 82, to the most current graduates.
This Worldwide body engages itself in Networking, Business and Socials, with the aim of impacting each other's lives.
Our passion and vision is to ensure that the Comlag Alumni Worldwide family and all it's members, and everyone that is part of the Comlag Alumni Worldwide family "grow from strength to strength and to greater heights" - An Effective great HUB for our Alma Mater!
1. NETWORKING: To Network, and provide a platform where Comlag
Alumni Commandos will feel free to network with each other to help create
opportunities for each other - that will help improve their businesses,
personal life and do business with each other. This also helps each Commando to
link up with one another and share information with other commandos around the
globe. The essence of our networking is to bring commandos together from all
over the world and connect us together, irrespective of the physical distance.
To have each Commando have access to various class sets. To enable us to
assist, bond and help each other when we find ourselves in a City or Town where
a Commando resides.
2. BUSINESS: We shall be having business summits that
bring out the best in us, Whereby Commandos do business with each other,
interact with the community where we reside - impact our immediate community
and the community at large. We plan to have a cooperative set-up within the
next few years this will help build our Comlag Alumni family stronger and also
have a robust directory of each other's area of work/expertise and work in
ensuring that we build a strong database.
3. SOCIALS: To help highlight/inform Commandos of events
and be there for one another. We are one big Comlag Alumni family and will love
to be part of each other's success story, and share our moment(s) and memories
with one another, as we celebrate each other's milestone(s), whatever they may
be. - e.g. Childbirth(s), Marriages, Children Graduation(s), Birthday
Celebration(s), Loss of loved ones, and bonding together.
4. DUES: We do not collect dues from Commandos. We
raise funds, for our annual Comlag Alumni Worldwide convention, through
voluntary contributions and also through the local organizing
committee/planning committee where the convention is being held.
5. CONVENTION VENUE: Since the convention started in the United
States, we wanted it to have an initial stabilization period and a global awareness,
but moving forward, we shall be requesting for Commandos to have a presentation
and show their preparedness in hosting the Comlag Alumni Worldwide convention
during our convention general session. The convention will be rotated to
other Countries where Commandos reside and will be celebrated every 5 years at
our Alma Mater in celebrating our school's milestone ages e.g. 45th, 50th,
55th, 60th anniversary. Since the first Comlag Alumni Worldwide convention, in
May 2018 at the City of Houston, Texas - we have had testimonies from several
Commandos, whom have not seen themselves since they left Ipaja and only met for
the very first time at the Comlag Alumni Worldwide convention in 2018 and 2019.
This is priceless, as we encourage other Commandos to try and attend the next
convention that comes up.
6. CHARITY & BENEVOLENT: We are our brother and sister's keeper in our comlag Alumni family, hence we truly look out for each other by being our "Commando's Keeper".
7. LOCATE OLD SCHOOL FRIENDS: Locate your old school friends and be part of something
special, a part of your life hood, when we were young, and looked up to a
future full of hope, and to make a difference to Humanity.
Command Secondary School Lagos (CSSL), was established on the 29th September 1977 along with three other pioneer Command schools based in Kaduna, Ibadan and Jos. It took off at the modest temporary site in Bonny Camp, Victoria Island, Lagos where the American International School had vacated.
The aim of establishing the school was to execute the AHQ mission of providing qualitative education to children/wards of NA personnel in particular and other members of the Armed Forces and civilian counterparts. CSSL started with a population of 72 students, made up of 45 boys and 27 girls and a staff strength of 5 teaching and 5 non-teaching personnel. In 1979, the school was relocated to its present permanent site at Ipaja to make room for the increase in student population. This was quite a challenge for all stakeholders as they all had to pass through many vicissitudes to ensure an enabling academic environment for the pursuit of academic excellence. In spite of all the hurdles the school has faced since its inception, it has gallantly carved a niche for itself among its contemporaries.
The school has had 2 pioneer Principals (civilians) and 15 Commandants from inception to date. It has grown in terms of students’ population, staffing, academic excellence, and infrastructural development.
Under the aegis of the Nigerian Army Education Corps (NAEC), the school has continued to make great strides to maintain its enviable position in its academic pursuits. Not too long ago, the school benefitted from the AHQ under Lieutenant General T. Y. Buratai NAM GSS psc (+) NDC (BD), BA (Hons), MA, MPhil. Amongst the projects carried out was the complete renovation of the Computer Lab/Typing pool complex, renovation of a block of four classrooms complex, construction of 4-compartment toilets for junior boys in the classroom area, renovation of 40 sitting capacity staff room, complete renovation, and upgrading of technical workshop complex, renovation of outdoor toilets and bathrooms in the boys’ hostel with complementing borehole, renovation of girls’ hostel and renovation of 2 blocks of outdoor toilets in the girls’ hostel.
